Terebyte

End-to-end encrypted cloud storage

We keep your files. We can’t read them.

Terebyte encrypts everything on your device before it’s uploaded, with a key only you hold. What reaches our servers is ciphertext — to us, to our providers, and to anyone who asks.

01/How it works

Encryption happens before the upload, not after.

Most services encrypt your files once they arrive — with keys they keep. Terebyte does it in your browser, so the key never has to leave it.

  1. 01

A key is born on your device

Creating a vault makes your browser generate a 256-bit master key. We only ever receive it sealed under your passphrase — a lock we can’t open.

  2. 02

    Every file is sealed locally

Files are split into chunks and encrypted with AES-256-GCM, each version under its own key. File and folder names are encrypted too.

We store what we can’t open

Our servers keep the ciphertext and what’s needed to deliver it: sizes and timestamps. Anything we could hand over would be unreadable.

02/Features

Everything you’d expect. Nothing that looks inside.

Sharing, versions and recovery — rebuilt so that none of them need us to see your files.

Share with a password and an expiry

The key rides in the part of the link browsers never send to servers. Add a password, set an expiry, revoke whenever you like.

A recovery key only you hold

We can’t reset your passphrase — so you get a recovery key instead. Store it offline; it’s the only other way in.

03/Security

What we can see — the complete list.

A privacy policy describes what a company chooses not to look at. This is what our system is unable to read, however hard anyone asks.

Visible to Terebyte

  • Your email address
  • How much storage you use
  • The size and time of each upload
  • How many files and folders you have, and how they nest
  • When a share link was made, and when it expires

Never visible to Terebyte

  • The contents of any file
  • File and folder names
  • File types
  • Your vault passphrase or recovery key
  • Share-link keys and passwords

Not a policy — a property of how the system is built.

Most cloud storage asks you to trust a policy. Terebyte asks you to trust mathematics.
The only promise we make is one we couldn’t break

05/FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

What happens if I forget my vault passphrase?

Use your recovery key to set a new one. If you lose both, your files can’t be recovered — not by you, and not by us. That’s the cost of real encryption, and why we ask you to keep the recovery key offline.

Why a passphrase if I already sign in with Google or email?

Signing in proves who you are. Your passphrase unlocks your encryption keys, and it never leaves your device — so neither Google, your email provider nor Terebyte can open your files.

How do share links stay private?

The key sits in the part of the link after the #, which browsers never send to servers. Add a password and the recipient needs both. Links can expire, and you can revoke them at any time.

Can Terebyte see what I store?

No. File contents and names are encrypted in your browser with AES-256-GCM before upload. We see sizes and timestamps, which we need to store your data and apply your plan’s limit.

What if I upload a file that already exists?

You choose: save it as a new version or keep both. Earlier versions stay in the file’s history until you delete them, and share links stay pinned to the version you shared.

Is there a download limit?

You can download everything you store, up to 3 times over each month, and at least your plan’s minimum from day one (3 GB on Free, 300 GB on Starter, 600 GB on Pro and 1 TB on Power). Most people use a small fraction of that, and we’ll warn you well before you hit it.

Can I change plans later?

Any time. Nothing is moved or re-encrypted — only your storage limit changes.
